After about five weeks, Gizmo has lost roughly half a pound. Although it doesn't seem like much, it was on track with how much weight a dog his size should be losing. Based on this data, my plan to help Gizmo lose weight was effective. Because his exercise was regulated, Gizmo was able to burn more calories than he did simply walking around the house. The experiment could've been more valid, as I couldn't monitor 24/7 what Gizmo was eating. It could've also been more reliable had I done the experiment with both of my dogs instead of just one. However, this kind of data could help pet owners to figure out how to help prevent their pets from becoming overweight, or to help them lose weight safely.
